This light and airy family home in Waterfall was designed for easy living

Although our intention was to build a new house, we fell in love with this one on a show day,” recall the owners of the double-storey they bought in Waterfall Estate, near Midrand in Gauteng.

The arrival of their first baby was just weeks away when the couple moved in, so they asked designers Yvonne O’Brien and Karen Smit to come to the rescue. “This was the seventh project we’ve done for the wife’s family and we also decorated the couple’s previous home, so we knew the furniture well,” says Yvonne. “We used as much as we could from the previous house, reupholstering and adding new accessories like scatters,” adds Karen.
