Somewhere between minimal and vibrant, this three-bedroom apartment treads a fine line between two distinctive styles.
As different as chalk and cheese, eclecticism and minimalism are two stylistic approaches to interior design that most would think as mutually exclusive, and for good reason. The former is associated with a vibrant, free-flowing aesthetic whereas the latter is largely characterised by tranquil features that are pared down to their essence.
However, by incorporating eclectic and minimalist features into a single space, this cosy family home located in River Valley completely inverts the idea that both styles are incompatible.
“The unit was conceived as a minimal and intimate space that is capable of meeting the homeowners’ need for functionality through simple fittings,” says Allan Wang, the principal designer of A.W.A Design Office, “But with their collection of eclectic artworks, objects and furniture, it gave us the opportunity to create unique ‘destination points’ within the rooms while ensuring the visual unity of the apartment.”
True to this unique design approach, the living room resembles an art gallery with its collection of vibrant knick-knacks.
