Have you ever stopped to consider the real value of that little piece of plastic in your wallet? No, I don’t mean your credit card! I’m talking about your rider’s/driver’s licence.
It’s something we tend to take for granted until it is under threat or taken away. Depending on your circumstances, it can be the most valuable piece of plastic you own.
I have incurred the wrath of the law on a few occasions and had my licence suspended, but never for more than three months at a time. The impact on your life can be huge. Of course, any licence suspension means both your rider’s and driver’s licences are suspended, so the mobility we take for granted is totally taken away. In my case I was lucky enough to be able to walk to work, but no test bikes or riding for three months really hurt. Because I live out of town I have also felt the sting of humiliation as I caught the morning school bus to do the shopping. There are no other buses, so that means wasting a whole day in town before catching the afternoon school bus home with several bags of groceries. It’s an extremely disempowering feeling!

Keeping Girls On Motorcycles
On any given weekend at your local motorcycle club, you will see throngs of kids blasting around on dirt bikes having a great time. More often than not, it’s at these local club tracks where kids are introduced to motorbikes. Boys and girls (under 10 years old) get out there and simply enjoy riding their bike without too much competition. Not many of the kids or parents care where they finish in the pack — it’s just about having fun.
