Why Millenials Are The Most Stressed Out Generation!
CLEO Singapore|November 2016

Do the words “don’t worry” feel impossible? You’re not alone. Dealing with the demands of everyday life has left millennials more confused, overwhelmed and stressed out than any other generation.

Why Millenials Are The Most Stressed Out Generation!

We’re allegedly the narcissistic “selfie” generation. We flit from job to job for better opportunities, and more cash. We live in a fast-paced world, moving onto the next thing just to stay engaged and up-to-date.

Millennials get a rough deal. On one hand, we’re ridiculed for our raw ambition. On the other, we’re attacked for being lazy and lacking initiative. Well, get over it world – millennials do things differently.

What’s the problem with that?

The problem is that stress seems to come hand in hand with this – according to a study by the American Psychological Association, millennials are more stressed-out than any other generation before us. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing: “Stress is normal,” explains Dr Victor Kwok,Psychiatrist at Sengkang Health, “and some stresses help to increase our productivity.” But while stress can keep us focused and motivated during times of pressure, such as during a job interview, excessive worrying can become debilitating.

“Anxiety disorders are different from normal worries,” explains Dr Victor. “People with anxiety know they worry excessively but they cannot stop.” And it’s not just the worrying that’s a problem. “Anxiety can also cause serious issues like insomnia, tiredness, irritability, difficulty concentrating and muscle aches,” he explains.

Why are so many of us suffering?
