Scott Brown is Celtic’s inspirational captain, but he knows the Double Treble is down to every member of the squad.
SCOTT Brown will go down in Celtic history as the captain of the Double Treble winners but he insisted the credit for this record-breaking achievement should be shared equally around the squad. The 32-year-old lifted his 16th trophy in the Hoops at Hampden on Saturday after the convincing Scottish Cup triumph over Motherwell.
Following last season’s Invincible Treble, it sealed consecutive clean sweeps for Brendan Rodgers’ side, an unprecedented feat in Scottish football.
The midfielder has been Celtic’s inspirational leader on the field during this remarkable run of uninterrupted success, a fact recognised in the amount of individual awards he’s received this season, including PFA Scotland Player of the Year.
But, as always, he was keen to highlight the contribution of his team-mates and everyone at the club, particularly the Celtic supporters.
“It’s exceptional, but it’s not just about being captain, every single player has played their part this season and it’s been a great season,” he told the View in an exclusive interview. “It was always going to be hard but it was always going to be different from last year but we soldered through.
