A massive cloud of white shards descends from the lobby ceiling, compelling me to look up. And then I keep looking up. The Czech-made chandeliers are part of the charm of the five-star hotel experience at the Sheraton Grand Whitefield, the 100th Indian outpost of Marriott International, about 90 minutes from the airport by road. To the far left, honeyed glass pendants gleam over the passage to the banquet rooms. Inside Chime, the lobby bar to the right, a candelabra of black lampshades extends from the mirrored ceiling. A few paces ahead, the Chinese and Thai restaurant, InAzia, has ruby-red calligraphic shapes hanging from the ceiling.
