How To Deal With A Workaholic Partner?
Delhiites Lifestyle Magazine|January 2019

As the competitive spirit reaches new heights in the market, the motto of ‘Work is Worship’ too, is rising exponentially. While it is great to be committed towards work and giving it utmost importance, it is also important to strike a worklife balance. For all those people dealing with a workaholic partner, life can be tough because their better half’s life is fully taken over by work. However, every problem has a solution. So, let’s get down to ‘work’ and find easy but effective ways to bring back love, warmth and spontaneity to such mechanical relationships. Here’s how:

How To Deal With A Workaholic Partner?

Is s/he really a workaholic?

Ask yourself this question before reaching any conclusion. If you are sure that your partner is a workaholic, then take the next step to figure out whether it is a recent development or a permanent trait. If it is a temporary thing, don’t brood over it and give your partner a hard time because it’s going to come to an end pretty soon. However, if it is a character trait and you have known it all along then it is all the more reason for you to be and handle the situation because you fell in love with the entire package, not just a few elements.

Insensitivity will not help.

Yes, it can be very lonely and suffocating to be with a person who is constantly on his/her toes and thinks of work all the time. And it hurts big time to see them giving more attention to a text just received from their boss than your long love-filled message. Nevertheless, being angry with him/her isn’t going to be helpful. Instead, try to introspect a little. A person becomes a workaholic because there is a very strong drive to become a perfectionist. And mind you, not every person can achieve that. You should be proud that your beloved is such a dedicated person. However, if you feel that it’s getting too much for you to handle, don’t hesitate in having a heart-to-heart, calm conversation with your partner.

Do not bring comparison into the relationship.
