Tough as nails and vague as futurity , Nargis Fakhrion her current complicate relationship status with Bollywood
Honestly, I say things and nobody cares… I feel sometimes I shouldn’t answer questions.”
Uh oh. Not the words you want the celebrity you’re interviewing spouting in the first five minutes of your conversation. It’s a little past 10 in the morning and we are in a hotel room somewhere in Midtown East, New York. The hotel comes with a pool and this amuses our cover star to no end. “I should consider booking a room here the next time I come to New York,” she whispers to her mother, leaning back against the chic leather backed desk chair standing in as a make-up chair. But isn’t New York home? “It is, but currently I am homeless,” she says. And what about Mumbai? “I don’t have a home in Mumbai anymore, I sold all my furniture.”
Hold up. Is Nargis Fakhri quitting Bollywood?
This was back in July when headlines hinted at the actress’ Bollywood journey culminating due to a broken heart. As we go to print, the headlines are all about her return to Bollywood, and reconciliation with a certain ex. It also coincides with the release of her latest film, Banjo, in a role she felt really connected to. “But most of the time I don’t really know what I’m saying, since I don’t speak the language.” Okay, then.
Perhaps her Hollywood experience, playing an antagonist in Spy, a film starring Melissa McCarthy, was easier? “Yeah, it was a lot of fun.” So what would be an ideal role? “Playing a dead person. Imagine an entire film about you getting to sleep, and everyone is crying over you. I get paid for doing nothing.”
