INTAN SHAFINAZ HALIM, founder of Serasi
“Age is never a limit. If there’s something you’re passionate about, just go for it!” It’s this very determination to live her best life that propelled Intan to start her own business in the beauty industry. Having been exposed to handmade and artisanal beauty products 22 years ago, when she was studying abroad, Intan was inspired to sell her own handmade lip balms in 2014. “I love lip balms and have been using them ever since I was a student due to me very dry skin. When my friends introduced me to essential oils, I got the inspiration to incorporate the oils in my first-ever product: the peppermint lip balm.” Upon receiving positive feedback from her friends and family, Intan decided to invest in a booth in 2015.
“I do have a staff to assist me with labelling, but I make all the products myself during my free time and on weekends.” This is done in small batches to ensure quality remains constant. “Serasi is my passion. I just love creating and trying out new formulations,” she enthuses, revealing that she also enjoys sharing the outcome of her hard work on Serasi’s well-curated social media page. “I take all the photos and write all the captions. I hope everyone can feel how much love and effort I put into making each and every product.”
