Are we ready for facial recognition yet?
Fingerprint scanners and iris scanners have reached a stage where they are highly reliable forms of security systems, at least for day-to-day applications. but of course, the holy grail is to be able to carry out facial recognition, and rumours abound that the iPhone 8 is set to feature this form of security. the smart money is, if it doesn’t bomb, then chances are it’ll be part of the mainstream.
The Samsung S8 offers this feature currently, but only for convenience rather than anything else. It is not available to use for e-commerce, which is pretty much the acid test for the robustness of its security. All security systems can be broken into, one way or another, but it’s a matter of how easy it is to do it.
