From shock resignations to rating wars, the world of breakfast television has been nothing short of full throttle this year. And New Idea’s top TV insiders reveal that 2022 is set to bring even more drama!
While former Sunrise co-host Samantha Armytage and former Today co-host Lisa Wilkinson were once professional rivals, the pair are believed to be in conversations to team up for a blockbuster new project.
One industry insider tells New Idea there are “widespread whispers” that Sam and Lisa are plotting a major comeback – but this time as a lucrative double act.
“Both Sam and Lisa left their posts so hastily – considering they were breakfast TV’s biggest names – and now it seems they have underestimated just how much they were going to miss the pace of live morning TV,” the source says. “And they no doubt miss the power they both wielded!”
According to the source, Sam, 45, realised her decision to leave Sunrise and live a quiet life with husband, Richard Lavender, on his NSW Southern Highlands estate “was a little premature”.
“She has unfinished business and plenty left in the tank!” the source reveals.
