Andrew Jenkinson visits Orton Grange Park, which is just off the A595 to Carlisle, a park with a location that offers both beauty and convenience
Back in the Roman period, PH&HC wonders whether those resourceful and ingenious empire builders ever thought that, hundreds of years later, the roads they constructed would still be in use today. One of those roads, the A595 near Carlisle, is very handily placed for Orton Grange Park - the subject of our latest park site visit.
The area around Orton Grange is full of interesting little nuggets of history like that. It’s also surrounded by some truly superb countryside and picture postcard-perfect little Cumbrian villages.
Check it out
That’s why we were so keen to explore a park home site that’s also been there for many years (although not quite as long as the Romans!).
The park has become the latest acquisition of Lancashire Park Homes and it’s currently in the middle of some major changes, which were still to be finalised when we visited in late January. PH&HC discovered some exciting news too: on the additional development, there will be up to seven new plots added. After a conversation with the new owners, the Welch family, we learned that there are also plans for some plots to be redeveloped. The Welchs want Orton Grange to become the go-to destination for those who want a quiet place to live, yet with all of the everyday amenities close at hand. Owners James and Violet took over from Violet’s father Charlie, of Barton Park Homes Ltd, who had owned for site for a good few years. They would like to continue his good work.
