He received rave reviews for his performance in the web series, Inside Edge, and now with Tiger Zinda Hai (TZH), actor Angad Bedi is slowly and carefully treading on the road to success and stardom in the Hindi film industry. Society catches him amidst his busy shooting schedule of TZH in Abu Dhabi, where he talks about his father, selection in movies, and working with bigwigs like Amitabh Bachchan and Salman Khan
Everyone is pretty familiar with the fact that Angad Bedi is the son of former noted Indian cricketer Bishan Singh Bedi, so cricket must run in his genes. Angad did play cricket up to the under-19 level for Delhi. However, soon after college, he pursued his career in modelling and eventually ventured into acting. How did his family react to this decision? “Obviously, when you make a decision like that, every family will be concerned. You leave your city and try to make your life somewhere else. But, they have been extremely supportive of my decision, saw the drive in me and have backed me to the hilt,” says the 34-year-old.
Angad made his acting debut as one of the leads alongside acting powerhouse Seema Biswas way back in 2004 with Kaya Taran, a film set against the backdrop of the 2002 Gujarat riots and the 1984 anti-Sikh riots. He, much later, starred in an out and out commercial film F.A.L.T.U. in 2011, followed by Ungli in 2014, and Pink and Dear Zindagi in 2016. No doubt, he has dabbled in television in between and has done everything from hosting a cricket show, a cookery show and a reality show to being a contestant himself on a reality show and working in the acclaimed Indian version of the television series, 24! However, it does seem like Angad has been very selective when it comes to movies. “As far as my graph in the film industry is concerned, I am very proud of the films I have done,” he avers simply.
