The actress has more than found happiness with entertainment manager David Gardner. The couple now live in the UK with son Sailor, 2, 1-year-old daughter Lula, and 12-year-old Milo (from her previous marriage with Spacehog rocker Royston Langdon) making theirs a busy household.
While movie roles have been made a sideline in recent years, Liv has stayed creative by turning her passion for fashion into something of a second career.
Liv, the daughter of Aerosmith legend Steven Tyler and former Playboy Playmate Bebe Buell, now finds herself approaching her 40th birthday in July with a new string to her bow.
Working with Brit fashion house, Belstaff, Liv has become a designer as well as an actress, producer, activist, and of course, mother.
Here Liv talks about style, her new lease of life, motherhood and how her partner is the best co-star she has ever had.
How different is fashion from film?
It’s so different from the world of film making. There is something so immediate about fashion that I really like. You have an inspiration and then you create this thing. You are putting on a show and it all happens quite quickly, then it’s over.
It’s not the same as a film. A film takes a very long time to plan and film. It’s a very different process so I enjoy getting to dip my toes in both worlds.
How do you juggle this new stage of your career with raising a family?
It’s a lot to juggle. I always say it’s like conducting a giant orchestra. I am very specific about things and I have a lot of help, which I am very grateful for. I have a wonderful partner who is also wonderful dad. I feel grateful because you definitely can’t work and have kids and not a have a good support system around you. So that is probably the key. It’s just a balance. Some days I am working all day and I get very little time with the kids – those days don’t make me happy – but then I will have a day where I will spend the whole day with them. I try and balance it all out.
