When Autumn Ifland drew the second elk tag in her life, she knew she was going – even though she’d be nine months pregnant.
It was a bit of a risk, knowing they’d be hunting five miles back in the mountains. This was the second time she was faced with this situation – the first time she drew for archery in Wyoming, she was pregnant with her first and decided to sit that season out. When it happened again, she knew there was no way she was sitting it out again.
The November hunt almost ended early when she started having contractions from riding a horse and being dehydrated. Determined, she made it to spike camp and tried to sleep to relax and stop the contractions. She woke at midnight and noticed no contractions.
