I have always been fascinated by the outdoor life and angling in particular.

With the rise in female anglers and my growing interest, my boyfriend Ben finally introduced me to carp fishing nearly three years ago. Like most, for want of a better saying, I was hooked.

After initially targeting day ticket waters and catching carp between 8lb and 9lb I began to progress. I decided that I wanted to try pastures new and get among the larger carp. You might say natural progression. I was finally at a stage where I felt confident enough to broaden my horizons and venture further afield.

I decided to book a session at Anglers Paradise and target a few of the larger carp. Leading up to this session the anticipation was building. Having only fished for a short period of time and within the parameters of my comfort zone, I was excited to see how the session would transpire.

Boy did it go to plan. After landing several carp – mirrors, commons and koi – and a few unwanted catfish, it was safe to say that I had the fishing bug. All I needed now was a venue closer to home.
