BORIS Johnson's allies yesterday said he will "start fighting back" after details of alleged visits by friends in lockdown were sent to detectives.
The growing threat of revolt in the Tory ranks came as the former Prime Minister ditched his government-appointed lawyers and No10 was forced to deny it shopped him to the police over fresh Partygate claims.
One of Mr Johnson's closest allies claimed there had been "treachery" from the "leadership".
The supporter said: "Boris has had enough now. He is going to start fighting back. It is appalling what has happened to him.
"This is Boris's moment. He is not going to allow himself to be abused like this." The former PM's friends believe he is the victim of a witch-hunt after the Cabinet Office contacted police about diary entries that alleg- 'It is ap edly showed visits by friends to Chequers what ha during lockdown.
The decision was to him taken by the department's top civil servant, Alex Chisholm, who was following rules laid out in the code of conduct.
The Prime Minister's official spokesman said: "To be clear, we have not seen the information or material in question. That would not be right. Nor has the Prime Minister.
