Is Biden's Legacy An Even Greater Threat To World Security?

SO MUCH for the new soft-focus, liberalminded Taliban – the one which was supposed to recognise women’s rights and stick to its side of the bargain in not attacking western interests.

Is Biden's Legacy An Even Greater Threat To World Security?

There are still four days to go until the withdrawal of allied forces from Afghanistan – a date agreed between the US and the Taliban, supposedly in return for the latter agreeing never again to allow terrorists to operate in areas under their control.

And yet yesterday those trying to get out of the country were targeted by bombs and gun attacks outside Kabul airport which have killed at least 72 people and disrupted the evacuation effort.

While the attacks are the work of ISIS, there are reports of Taliban soldiers blocking roads to prevent westerners, as well as Afghans who have a right to join rescue flights, from reaching the airport.

The West has agreed to leave Afghanistan after 20 years of military involvement – and for its part the Taliban cannot bring itself to let us withdraw in peace.
