THE recent spate of supplier collapses will cost all energy customers more than £1billion, an industry chief has warned.
It could mean every household shelling out £50 on top of the jump in energy prices they are already facing.
The alert from Bill Bullen, founder and chief executive of Utilita, one of the bigger suppliers, came amid fears of more failures after a surge in wholesale costs.
Six suppliers with 1.5 million customers have gone bust this month including Avro Energy, with 580,000 customers.
