Hot But Not A Heatwave

TEMPERATURES hit a sweltering 28C yesterday – but it still might not be hot enough to be declared a heatwave.

The Met Office says the weather that greeted the bank holiday and the start of this month is “unlikely” to meet the official criteria in most parts of the country.

Steven Keates, a meteorologist, said: “We define a heatwave depending on three consecutive days meeting certain temperature thresholds.
