SCHOOLS are now under “intense pressure” because so many pupils and staff are absent due to Covid, school leaders warned.
Latest figures show 204,000 pupils were off school at the last count, which is 2.5 per cent of all state pupils and a jump of two thirds in just two weeks.
Some London schools are reintroducing bubbles and at others parents have been warned their access to school grounds may be limited. It comes amid concern at the speed of the vaccine roll-out, with London still the worst in the country at administering jabs to children aged 12 to 15.
