Conte yesterday revealed the club were waiting for the results of follow-up PCR tests on two players, which were expected today, with the club hoping to avoid another outbreak in the squad.
Premier League players currently take daily lateral flow tests, with any positives confirmed by PCR tests, which give a more accurate reading.
The two individuals concerned, believed to include one of Conte’s key players, missed training today but the head coach remained hopeful they could be involved in the Carabao Cup semi-final first leg.
“We are checking a couple of situations but we’re not sure 100 per cent that they’re going to miss the game,” Conte said. “We have to check and see if there are new positives or not. Then we’ll see which players are available to play against Chelsea.
