Innocent Michael Gallagher, 60, was knifed 15 times in a vicious assault as his horrified partner Sally Rodgers looked on.
He was set upon by two masked men who barged into their home at Tymonville Road, Tallaght, shortly after 10pm on January 18, 2007.
Ms Rodgers opened the door to the two men, one armed with a knife and the other carrying a hammer.
To this day, gardai are still baffled as to why the father of five, originally from Mohill, Co Leitrim, was targeted and have never managed to establish a motive.
Ms Rodgers, 65, said she believes it was a case of mistaken identity and wants to know why he was killed.
And she added she will not give up fighting for justice until those responsible for the savage murder are caught.
She told the Irish Sunday Mirror: “In some ways it doesn’t feel like it was 14 years ago.
“Some days it feels like it happened yesterday but at other times it feels like a lifetime ago.
“I still miss him so much. The Guards currently have no suspects, no motive. They need someone to give information.
“Please come forward, anyone who knows anything or those involved, and just tell me why.
