Three CRPF personnel were killed on Monday in a militant attack in Kupwara district of Jammu and Kashmir, officials have confirmed. Security forces also managed to kill one militant.
The attackers opened fire on a CPRF Naka party at Wangam-Qaziabad in Kralgund area of the district. Sources said that it was an ambush and a fierce gunbattle is underway.
While three CRPF jawans were killed on the spot, several others have been injured in the Handwara attack. The area has been cordoned off and additional forces rushed there to track down the assailants, the officials said, adding further details are awaited.
Meanwhile, a CISF jawan was also injured in a grenade attack on a security forces' camp at Nowgam area of Srinagar on Monday, officials said.
