The Central Election Committee of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) held a meeting in Delhi on Sunday to finalise candidates for the upcoming Assembly elections in Haryana and Maharashtra.
The party’s top sources indicated to India Today TV that a first list of candidates for both the states will be released on Monday. The last day for filing nomination is October 4. In Haryana, the BJP will go to polls under the leadership of incumbent chief minister Manohar Lal, who is expected to contest again from his constituency of Karnal.
Latest entrants into the BJP, wrestlers Yogeshwar Dutt and Babita Phogat, and former hockey captain Sandeep Singh are also expected to be fielded in the upcoming elections. In Maharashta, the BJP sources indicated that the alliance with Shiv Sena will be announced in Mumbai on Tuesday.
