‘Citizenship Act Is Dangerous, Govt Must Hear Out Students'

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has called the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) dangerous and questioned the need to bring it at a time when jobs and economy were “more pressing issues to be addressed.”

Speaking at Agenda Aaj Tak 2019 here on Monday, CM Kejriwal said the Centre should listen to students who are protesting against the new law.

“I am told that students of 22 universities are protesting. This is not a good thing. We as a nation must take note of why our students are out on the streets. They go to universities to study. They are our future. The Centre should listen to them and resolve their issues,” the CM said.

The Citizenship Amendment Act triggered violent protests in northeastern states and Bengal. On Sunday, Delhi also erupted in violence when students and other protesters clashed with cops and torched four buses and two police vehicles.
