After discovering a yawning gap between actual bed availabilities in Delhi and their listing on the AAP government’s corona app, a deeper investigation by India Today TV has now revealed that various Coviddesignated private hospitals have no resources in the first place to deal with the pandemic.
The private facilities India Today TV's Special Investigation Team probed are found to be having no isolation wards, beds, equipment and even staff to treat coronavirus patients.
NO PHYSICAL BEDS, WARDS
“We don’t have beds, sir”, Mamata, a manager at Dharamshila Narayana Hospital in Delhi’s Vasundhara Enclave, told an SIT reporter posing as an associate of a Covid patient.
But this (app) is showing 30 (vacant beds), madam, probed the journalist.
Sir, it's showing 30 in the app, but we have no beds ready. We have informed the government that we have no beds, we have no wards. We only have 10 beds and 11 patients, she acknowledged. There are no beds in the first place, sir. They still have put their numbers up. A ratio (of beds for coronavirus patients) can only be made available if they are physically available.
NO WILLING STAFF
In East Delhi's Mayur Vihar neighbourhood, the medical superintendent of the Jeevan Anmol Hospital, Dr Neera Sondhi, confessed she had no staff willing to take care of Covid patients.
Are you taking admissions? the reporter asked.
