There were hardly any sur-prises in the first-ever PBA Rookie Draft held virtually Sunday, March 14, 2021, beginning with Terrafirma’s selection of former ASEAN Basketball League and Chooks-to-Go PIlipinas 3x3 star Joshua Munzon.
Terrafirma got the 26-year-old Munzon, whose ability to score with impunity and willingness to defend could make him a fitting replacement to the lead role played in the last two seasons by CJ Perez.
Both players could have formed a dynamic combo but the Dyip management decided to ship Perez to the powerhouse San Miguel Beermen before the end of January that left fans scratching their heads.
Nonetheless, Munzon is excited with the chance of turning the fortunes of Terrafirma which won only once in 11 games during the PBA Philippine Cup, the only conference played last season.
