The local industry is not ‘sleeping’ amid the call for bayanihan

Government efforts have ramped up these past few days with the construction of makeshift clinics and quarantine facilities at various event venues such as the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC), the World Trade Center (WTC), Rizal Memorial Coliseum, among others. Even venues outside the metro are following suit, led by the colossal Philippine Arena in Bocaue, Bulacan, which will converted into a “mega quarantine facility.”

Once home to product launches, concerts, exhibits, and sporting events, these venues are “keeping up with the times,” conveying that they are ready for the worst, like this pandemic season.

After the construction of the quarantine facilities comes the hard part— the gathering of resources to make sure that these centers operate efficiently and safely. Though government has procured the essential furniture and equipment to make patients well and allow the doctors and nurses to do their tasks effectively, the immediate massive requirement is one tremendous challenge. If the supply can’t keep up with the demand of the expected thousands of patients, then there will be a breakdown of the system, prolonging the agony not only of the patients and frontliners, but each and every Filipino.
