They had turned unruly at Silchar airport, Minister tells LS
Home Minister Rajnath Singh told the Lok Sabha on Friday that members of Parliament from the AllIndia Trinamool Congress were detained at the Silchar airport on Thursday to ensure that the law and order situation did not deteriorate.
He was replying to Trinamool MP Kalyan Banerjee, who raised the issue of the detention of some MPs who had gone to Assam as part of a party delegation to assess the situation arising out of the exclusion of 40 lakh names from the National Register of Citizens draft list published on July 30.
Mr. Singh said that he had received reports of a scuffle between the delegation members and security personnel.
