Singapore Airshow set to take off with fewer exhibitors

The Singapore Airshow will take off next month but with less buzz, as it has so far managed to secure only about a third of the exhibitors compared with the previous edition in 2020.

While the event will still be the biggest large-scale industry gathering in Singapore since the pandemic started, its wings have been clipped by Covid-19 restrictions, with companies such as American aircraft manufacturer Gulfstream dropping out.

A traditional high-profile aviation summit has been cancelled for the second edition running.

The biennial Singapore Airshow will take place at the Changi Exhibition Centre from Feb 15 to Feb 18. Unlike previous editions, there will be no days open to the public.

The 2020 edition, which was held during the initial stages of the pandemic, saw about 70 companies withdrawing at short notice. This was a dropout rate of about 8 per cent. About 930 firms took part.

According to the current exhibitor listing, only 321 companies are confirmed for this year’s airshow so far.
