New Delhi: The serpentine queues and waiting periods to enter a Metro station that sometimes stretch longer than the journey itself were back in Delhi on Wednesday, along with massive crowding at bus stops during the rush hour as Level 1 of the Covid Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) was imposed.
Even though Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) started following the directions of Delhi Disaster Management Authority’s order on imposing the Yellow level of GRAP on Tuesday itself, its real impact on the Metro’s carrying capacity was visible only on Wednesday morning.
As part of the curbs, Delhi Metro and public transport buses have been allowed to operate with 50% of their seating capacity and no standing passenger. Para-transit like autos, cabs, e-rickshaws and gramin sewas can transport only two passengers at a time.
