With several nursing staff contracting the virus and not finding support from their employers, there was an exodus of nurses from the city, particularly of nurses from Kerala and Tamil Nadu. “This has led to an acute shortage of nurses and we are currently flooded with requests from hospitals to send nurses. The problem however is that nurses have already returned to their native places and are refusing to come back even at salaries between ₹40,000 and ₹45,000,” said Nursing Officers Association of Telangana president, Laxman Rudavath.
