Mumbai: The Enforcement Directorate (ED), while opposing the bail plea of former state home minister Anil Deshmukh in a money laundering case, said that he “exercised undue influence over transfer and posting of officials”, adding that its probe revealed he bought a flat in Worli, Mumbai, in his wife’s name for Rs 84 lakh and paid in cash to hide the identity of actual buyer.
The ED, in an affidavit, said Deshmukh played a “crucial role” in the reinstatement of Sachin Waze as assistant police inspector and “pressurised” then police chief Param Bir Singh to give Waze an important unit in Mumbai crime branch.
