As a parent, you keep making crucial decisions regarding what you think will be the best for your child. Among the first of these decisions is an especially important one – which gynecologist to entrust the birth of your baby with. After all, you need to be in safe hands as far as the delivery of your baby is concerned. Even if you’re still trying to conceive and considering fertility treatment, you need to go to a doctor who truly knows his job.
What are the parameters on which you find the right doctor? Most people generally make this choice based on word-of-mouth reference. This may be both a good or a bad idea; it all depends on how you go about with it.
VERBAL RECOMMENDATION
First and foremost, whose recommendation should you depend on? Your friend may just be recommending his aunt just because she is a blood relation. In reality, she may be an incompetent doctor. There may also be a possibility that someone is recommending the doctor who offers her a fee for recommending him. Maybe you have seen him being quoted repeatedly in newspapers and other publications. This doesn’t necessarily make him a good doctor; maybe he just has friends in the media. Do you think you can really rely on a friend who doesn’t have the required brains to ascertain if the doctor is good or bad? Maybe she reads no books or articles on pregnancy and blindly believes what the doctor tells her to do. Maybe because of her pea-brained mind she can only tell the doctor, “I am in pain. Please give me pills so that I feel better.” Perhaps she is not even interested to really find out what is causing her discomfort.
