I love to see well-designed or engineered shooting accessories, especially when they’re excellently finished, too. I’d previously bought some items from EagleVisionCam.com (EVC), so being extremely impressed with their quality, I asked Masood there if I could borrow some more items for review. These arrived just prior to lockdown commencing, and have now given me an opportunity to enhance my pest-control combinations, ready for my next campaign. All EVC kit is manufactured in England from aluminum. It’s precisely machined, immaculately anodised and finishing is to an extremely high standard right across their product range.
YOU’VE SEEN THIS BEFORE, OR HAVE YOU?
First, here’s something seemingly commonplace– a dovetail-to-Picatinny adaptor rail, taking advantage of the increasingly popular scope-rail design. This is available to convert either a standard 11-12mm dovetail or a wider 13mm BSA dovetail rail. Masood has improved upon the previous convention by adding four lateral locking Allen screws. These add flexibility by allowing you to tighten the rail onto your action’s dovetail rail, locking it in place and effectively making it a semi-permanent part of the rifle. I expected the immaculate quality but was also pleasantly surprised by the number of spares, both Allen screws and Allen keys. This is especially handy with some of the former being quite small, so no risk of a lost part rendering the rail useless here. The 150mm rail weighs just 34.4g.
In addition to the side-clamping, there are two vertical tapped holes, through which two fatter grub screws can be tightened down onto the dovetail rail. This effectively further anchors the rail in place, perhaps offering extra peace of mind if fitting one to a recoiling rifle. See ‘A. EVC Picatinny rail QR-code’, for more information.
