Often, when I engage in conversation with fellow shooting enthusiasts, the subject of airgun pricing rears its head. There is no getting away from the fact that airguns are not cheap items, but once over the initial purchase hurdle, the day-to-day running costs are not too onerous. The reasons for the pricing structure are quite understandable, given the research and design costs, followed by the labour costs for production, and not forgetting the distributors margins, followed closely by the profit the RFD must show on the final purchase. Compared to the car or food industry, airgun production is fairly low volume because not everyone wants or needs an airgun – until enlightenment dawns of course – and in recent years, there has been a trend for some makers to make increasing good quality guns at prices that appear more within the reach of the average person.
SHOOTING DIVISIONS
By observation, I have identified several types of airgun shooters. Of course, people don’t neatly pigeonhole into neat categories, there is always blurring at the edges, which is why life is so interesting. By virtue of the fact you are reading this, though, I would conclude that you are an enthusiast, to whom a gun is not just a tool but also something to actually enjoy owning and using. You will be keen to know more about the sport, always striving to improve your technique, learn about new pieces of equipment, and perhaps how best to improve your airgun.
