Looking back at the 1986-87 Los Angeles Lakers.
It has been nearly 30 years since one of the most memorable team efforts in NBA history and the accomplishments of the 1986-87 edition of the Los Angeles Lakers still resonates with both fans and collectors today.
Finishing the season with a 65-17 record that was tops in the Pacific Division, Pat Riley’s team rolled into the playoffs on a mission to recapture the title that they fell short of winning the year before thanks to a strong Houston Rockets club. This time, they were not about to get sidetracked on their way to a championship and started off by knocking the Denver Nuggets out in three straight. Next up were the Golden State Warriors, who could only manage a single victory before being eliminated. They fared better than the Seattle SuperSonics, who were swept in the Western Conference Final.
