Unforgettable win is a game-changer

The scenes, everywhere you looked, were incredible.

There was Josh Allen being interviewed by CBS’ Tracy Wolfson on national television and receiving a turkey leg, which was quickly shared with Tre’Davious White as White sung the “Shout” song. There was

White imitating Dak Prescott’s viral pregame warm-up on the Bills sideline. There was Jordan Phillips and Shaq Lawson mimicking Ezekiel Elliott’s “feed me” celebration as Jim Nantz signed off with a “Happy Thanksgiving.” There were numerous shots of Jerry Jones fuming in his owner’s box, contrasted with a single close-up of the Buffalo owner’s box that showed Terry Pegula and general manager Brandon Beane gleefully high-fiving.

Publicly, the Bills tried to pass off their Thanksgiving game against the Dallas Cowboys as just another game. Allen and Sean McDermott were careful with their words, stressing that it was another win in another week, one that helps Buffalo get another step closer to its ultimate goal.

This was not just another game, however. This was the statement game this Buffalo franchise has wanted and needed for so very long.

On the national stage, with more than 30 million viewers watching across the country, the Bills went out and demolished “America’s Team.” On Thanksgiving. At Jerry World.

Yes, the Bills ended their playoff drought two years ago, and, yes, they did so in unforgettable fashion. But there was always a sense that the 2017 Bills got a little bit lucky, that they ultimately overachieved. The ensuing playoff loss didn’t help.

While this may just have been a regular-season game, it was so, so much more than that. Given where the Bills have been, and where they’ve come from, Buffalo’s 26-15 win over the Cowboys will go down as one of the most memorable games in franchise history.

I mean, really ... do you think anyone’s going to ever forget this one?
