Bereaved father thankful for well-wishers’ support
Despite Charlie Craig’s tragic, unexpected death in his sleep on January 20, 2017 at the age of 15, the Craig family, who have been a longstanding fixture on the UK cross and mountain bike scenes, have continued to attend races and compete.
Speaking to Cycling Weekly, Nick Craig said: “The first three months [after Charlie’s death] I couldn’t tell you what we did, or thought. Without the support of all the people in the world of cycling, the workplace, and all the people in the [cycling] industry and people at races — those are our extended family — and friends, we don’t know where we’d be.” Support came from all corners including some of the biggest names in the sport.
He added: “We asked ourselves; do we not go to races and disconnect from our world to try and help, or do the opposite and just keep going? We decided the best thing to do was to keep going.
