End-to-End tricycle record, readers’ mileage reports

That amazing summery cover shot is of housewives Pat Attfield (left) and Daphne Nippard with their youngsters on a weekday jaunt to Poole, Dorset. The caption tells us: “The kiddies are two-year-old John Attfield and 16-month old Michael Nippard.” Why that picture was chosen for the cover is anybody’s guess, with no content in the magazine to accompany it.

Inside was the tale of tricyclist Albert Crimes, who was the recipient of the 1957 Bidlake memorial prize for his End-to-End tricycle record of two days, 12 hours and 37 minutes, beating David Duffield’s record by almost eight hours.
