Bike-buying tips from Britain’s Best Bike Shop winner
Even if you know what bike you want, going to a shop can open up a range of possibilities you hadn’t previously thought of. So we spoke to Simon Cortis from the Edinburgh Bicycle Cooperative, winners of Cycling Weekly’s 2017 Britain’s Best Bike Shop award, about the conversations they have with their customers.
CW: What sort of customer do you typically sell an endurance bike to?
EBC: There’s such a wide range of models on the market that around 80 per cent of our customers best suit endurance bikes.
L’Etape or Tour of the Border-style riders can benefit from models that come with vibration damping and stiffness zones. Customers often invest in a lot of customisation here, running deep section wheels and creating some really fancy looking machines.
