How to... make coffee like a cyclist

Coffee and pro cycling have gone together almost since the beginning. Partly it’s the Italian cultural influence, partly it’s the caffeine kick, and partly it’s the pleasure that there is to be had from the sheer unremitting prevention.

There are two fundamental approaches. The first is to purchase a large, shiny (and I mean shiny – the polished finish is not optional) machine. The more it looks like it has in common with a steam locomotive the better. It should make clanking noises, have lots of valves, and emit steam at high pressure into the crotch of the unwary.
