He retired from Test cricket almost four years ago and was dropped from the T-20 squad that played West Indies recently. That leaves MS Dhoni playing only the ODI format in which of course he has an excellent record. But as is well known his limited over skills have steadily declined. He hasn’t got a half-century in his last 14 innings and even more importantly his strike rate has gone down alarmingly. That was always the hallmark of his batting – coming up with the big hits and unorthodox strokes while converting singles into twos and twos into threes with his superb running skills and judgement.
