The year 2023 is coming to an end. The last two 12 months have witnessed some massive cricketing action. 2023 was the year in which Australia won another ODI World Cup, stunning hosts India who had been undefeated in the run-up to the final of the ICC event. Earlier, the Aussies had also crushed India’s hopes of winning the World Test Championship (WTC), winning the summit clash with a clinical performance. It was the year of the Aussies in a sense as they also retained the Ashes following a hard-fought battle with England. Afghanistan grabbed eyeballs with a superb World Cup, while Sri Lanka and Pakistan had a disappointing year. With 2023 almost behind us, we look back at the top 10 players of the year.

TRAVIS HEAD:

Australian batter Travis Head was the easiest choice on the list. He played the two most defining knocks of the year. His brilliant 163 in the WTC final, but India on the back foot in the summit clash. He then slammed another hundred in the World Cup final to break a million Indian hearts. Head was also the Player of the Match for his all-round effort in the semis against South Africa. Head scored 911 runs in 12 Tests at an average of 45.55. In ODIs, he hammered 570 runs in 13 games, averaging 51.81 at an exceptional strike rate of 133.17. In T20Is, he scored 209 runs in six matches with a best of 91.
