It is little more than 12 months since DOMINIC CALVERT-LEWIN arrived on Merseyside as an unheralded teenager from Sheffield United. Today, he is a fixture in Ronald Koeman’s squad. He spoke to the Everton Matchday Programme about his stellar start to the campaign and why the Toffees are relishing upcoming home fixtures…
Does being back on home turf for successive league games – today against Bournemouth and when Burnley visit next Sunday - represent a chance for the team to click into gear?
Absolutely. We showed our form at Goodison last year. It is a good place for us and, having the fans behind us, we showed we can make it a fortress.
We will be looking to do that again this season and make it as hard as possible for teams to come to Goodison – and let them know they are in for a game when they come here.
We have had a really tough period of games - against City, Chelsea, Tottenham and Manchester United.
We are out of that run but it will still be a very difficult game against Bournemouth. We will be looking to put in as good a performance as we can, try to play with more confidence and, hopefully, show what we are capable of.
Ronald Koeman admitted Everton were not at the required level against Atalanta and Tottenham but the outlook seemed far more positive following last week’s game at United, despite the result.
