People tend to think that the first thing to go when you get older is speed, and therefore how far you can hit the ball. But with the advances in training and nutrition, as well as the incredible equipment we have today, guys are still able to carry it 300-plus yards well into their 40s— and sometimes 50s.
I’ve actually found that as the year's pass, putting excellence might be one of the hardest things to maintain. It’s not a coincidence that you see so many guys on the Champions Tour switching to longer putters or different grips. They do it in the hopes of regaining some of the success they had as younger players. But it’s a real challenge.

AMATEURS OFTEN STAND OVER THE BALL with their feet too wide apart. I understand the appeal—they want to feel more stable throughout the swing, and a wider stance seems a logical way to achieve that.
