It doesn’t matter which hill you’re on in Rock Hill, whether its the 8-meter for some serious SX speed or the “smaller” 5-meter Am hill.
When you roll your bike into its lane and get set for the cadence, your heart rate jumps knowing that you’re about to hit one of the World’s Greatest BMX tracks. Anyone who has done this, knows that Rock Hill rules.
There’s a good reason why moto count is always high for the Carolina Nationals. Even prior to hosting the UCI Worlds in 2017, racers from all over have come out in droves to compete on this fun-filled BMX facility.
In fact, when you enter the plush, multi-million dollaar venue, there should be a “Rock Hill Rules” sign listing these eight guidelines:
ROCK HILL RULE #1: HAVE FUN
When you attend any race at Rock Hill, whether its a Friday night local or the Carolina Nationals, you can’t help but enjoy the ultimate Rock Hill experience. For many, winning makes things more fun - and most of us will agree with that theory. Throdwn’s Joseph Mather can attest to this. After he won everything in sight (ink him in for a 8x doubledouble), he stuck around on Sunday and kept riding the track for two more hours, until we had to kick him off the track.
ROCK HILL RULE #2: GO FAST WiaWis’ Rowdy Holzer has been on a tear this year, either doubling or double-doubling at every race he’s been to. This weekend, he and Blackcrown’s Matteo Pigo (a Rock Hill local) swapped doubles in 9x / 9cruiser.
ROCK HILL RULE #3: CLIMB A MOUNTAIN

GOLD CUP NORTH CENTRAL
If there is one good thing about this year’s Covid closures of states and counties, it is that tracks that might not normally have gotten a shot at hosting a National or Gold Cup event, were now given that opportunity.

GOLD CUP SOUTHEAST
This year the DK Bicycles Gold Cup South East Finals were held at one of the fastest BMX tracks in Alabama - Circle City BMX, in Dothan. If trying to claim one of the coveted Gold Cup Plates brought you to Circle City BMX for your first time you might have been surprised when you first saw the track layout.
GOLD CUP SOUTHWEST
When you roll into the local Quiktrip and one of Tucson’s finest looks at your shirt and asks if you know Corben Sharrah, you can only be in one city in America. Often coined as the loudest city in BMX, it doesn’t matter if there is a single fan or a gaggle of Tucsonans, they know how to bring the energy.
GOLD CUP NORTHEAST
With all of the uncertainty in event planning this year, it was not a huge surprise that the DK Bicycles North East Gold Cup Finals shifted locations somewhat last minute. We were very lucky to have it and at a great location, Akron BMX in Akron, Ohio. The Big Red Truck was last here for the 2018 North East Gold Cup Finals, and the track is located in a pretty incredible location.

SECOND TIMES A CHARM
It just seems like yesterday that we were in Rock Hill for the Carolina Nationals and here we are again.
