The Azerbaijan Grand Prix wasn’t about great racing. But the chaos during the event, with debris and sparks flying, both literally and figuratively, has LIVENED UP what was an already intriguing Formula One season.
After three seasons of staid racing, Formula One this year has been like a breath of fresh air, with the fight between Mercedes and Ferrari and its two lead drivers getting very intense. So far the battle has been strictly on the track with a bit of mutual admiration between the two protagonists, Lewis Hamilton of Mercedes and Sebastian Vettel of Ferrari. Well, that was only until Sunday (June 25)when the gloves came off in the fight between the two former world champions.

The fortunes of the top three drivers swung wildly during the race, but in the end, there was one happy Australian drinking champagne from his boot, a stoic Finn, who staged a massive recovery from the back of the field and a lap down to finish second just moments before the flag, and an 18year-old rookie tasting champagne in only his eighth race, on the podium.
