Dent: We'll Learn From That Loss To Glamorgan
A SIX-WICKET defeat to Glamorgan may, on paper, appear to have been a far from ideal second chapter of Chris Dent’s nascent Gloucester shire captaincy.
However, the 27-year-old, hopes that troublesome experience will stand him in good stead going forward as he looks to help his side challenge at the right end of Division Two this summer.
Dent, whose side are due to pit their wits against Sussex in Hove today, had to cope with seeing Liam Norwell, Gloucester shire’s leading wicket-taker last season, suffer a recurrence of a hamstring injury that looks set to keep him sidelined for a significant period while a superb unbeaten 120 from youngster James Bracey proved in vain.
The Gloucester shire skipper, who led his team to a five-wicket win over Kent in their season opener earlier this month, doesn’t necessarily want to have everything his own way, however.
“I’ve enjoyed it. Kent was a fairly easy game to captain – probably for both captains because wickets were falling left, right and centre, so that’s not overly tricky,” said Dent, who penned a new two-year deal as he was named Gloucester shire’s new captain back in March.
